The Supervisory Boards of Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG and Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG appointed Adolf Roesch to the Executive Board of both companies at their meeting on 18 September 2024. He will take over the role of CEO on 19 September 2024.
The previous CEO Thorsten Kramer had led the companies since 2022 and made a decisive contribution to the transformation of LEAG. Andreas Lusch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of both companies, thanked Thorsten Kramer for his entrepreneurial successes, particularly in the expansion of renewable energies. "Thorsten Kramer has left a lasting mark on the company with the development of the GigawattFactory and has consistently continued the transformation of LEAG against the backdrop of the politically desired coal phase-out."
Adolf Roesch was most recently CEO of Köster Holding SE, one of Germany's leading construction companies. Prior to that, he held several management positions at General Electric and the Alstom Group, most recently as Head of Power Plant Services for Central Europe and as Spokesman of the Management Board of General Electric GmbH and member of the Management Board of GE Power AG.
As an experienced manager with a high level of expertise in the energy and construction business, Adolf Roesch will position LEAG for the transformation of the energy landscape in Germany and the German government's new power plant strategy. "I look forward to continuing the challenging task of realigning LEAG with my colleagues on the Executive Board in a targeted and successful manner", says Adolf Roesch.
The change of CEO is accompanied by a reallocation of departmental responsibilities. Adolf Roesch will also assume responsibility for the Power Plants and Technical Services divisions. Mining, refining and biomass activities will now be bundled in Dr Philipp Nellessen's former production department. The CFO, Dr Markus Binder, will assume responsibility for marketing and M&A activities in future. Labour Director Jörg Waniek remains unchanged.
At the meeting, the Supervisory Board and the Executive Board emphasized their common goal of consistently continuing the transformation of the largest energy company in eastern Germany into a leading player in the field of renewable energies and storage. “The energy transition is our clear commitment, the structural change of the mining areas is our path. We stand by this - in the interests of the region, the company and its employees,” siad Andreas Lusch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
